If you’re looking for apps to help you\u00a0keep more of those pink William Lyon Mackenzie King’s in your pocket (ahem, the Canadian $50, of course), we’re fairly certain there\u00a0isn’t a bigger budget app list on the internet as of this date<\/a> that can help you find the right one for your financial lifestyle.<\/p>\n

We’ve covered all mobile systems on this list & varying price points (from free to a few dollars). We’ve even thrown in supplemental apps that, while not directly helping you allocate your funds to different categories, they assist you in other ways (like taking pictures of your receipts and then very conveniently filing them for you – amazing). We’ve also made sure to list apps that can help your younglings & teenagers as well! Here you have it, 31 budget apps of all shapes and sizes. Happy\u00a050-30-20<\/a>!<\/p>\n

Mint Canada <\/a><\/h3>\n

Devices: iOS, Windows Phone, Android, and PC’s & iOS through Amazon.com<\/p>\n

Cost: FREE<\/p>\n

Mint is a well-loved app in the US (and it’s deserved) due to it’s clean & easy to use UI and Canadians have the ability to use it’s incredible features, too! A coveted feature of Mint is the low funds feature, which alerts you if your bank account is running on the low side (you set the amount) or if your credit cards are reaching their limit. Everything is centralized on your mobile device, and every transaction is verified upon completion with a great, big “SUCCESS!” message. We love that kind of positive feedback that makes you feel good about being on top of your budget! Mint Bills boasts “Triple Layer Security”, with 128-bit encryption, third-party security programs like McAfee and Verisign and real-time alerts in case of unusual or suspicious activity on your account. A heads up to our friends in QC. While Mint does support Quebec banks, services are currently only offered in English, but they promise that “French is on the way”. Quelle bonne nouvelle!<\/p>\n

Wally<\/a><\/h3>\n

Devices: ioS & Android. Web based app coming soon.<\/p>\n

Cost: FREE and NO ads.<\/p>\n

A really, really social budgeting app. Wally lets you track every last detail of your expenses – you can even tag your friends & family if you were out shopping with them or out at a restaurant! \u00a0It\u2019s also lets you take pictures of your receipts! The easy-to-use interface makes logging and tracking your money incredibly easy. Wally also provides suggestions on where to save money, based on your goals and your spending. It breaks every category into graphs for you so you can see how much you\u2019ve spent (and if it coincides with your goal).<\/p>\n

Level Money <\/h3>\n

Devices: iOS, Android<\/p>\n

Cost: FREE<\/p>\n

Warning to Canadians: Level does not yet allow Canadian banks to connect to the app, and there are no features of the app that will work without this real-time automation feature. Level has said that they hope to eventually expand into the Canadian market. However, to our American readers, have at it! You’ll enjoy real-time updates on your bank accounts, savings goal notifications and positive feedback when you do financially healthy things.<\/p>\n

myFinanceTracker by RBC Royal Bank<\/a><\/h3>\n

Devices: Online (Not a mobile app)<\/p>\n

Cost: FREE (for RBC account holders only)<\/p>\n

While not an app per say, we wanted to cover some of the mobile budgeting options have Canadians have with their own banks. myFinanceTracker from RBC has your standard budgeting features; input income and expenses, investments and other assets and be able to watch them in live time. RBC also has the RBC Wallet feature, which allows you to make payments by tapping your smartphone. This feature is only available for Android.<\/p>\n

Money Manager Expense & Budget by Realbyte Inc. <\/a><\/h3>\n

Devices: Android<\/p>\n

Cost: FREE<\/p>\n

Want more than just tracking the coming’s and going’s of each dollar? You can manage your entire budget, from your income, loans, credit cards and more. MMW&B also features an in-app calculator.<\/p>\n

Buxfer <\/a><\/h3>\n

Devices: Web based app<\/p>\n

Cost: Three levels. Basic plan includes unlimited transactions, basic reports and shared bills and IOU’s. The Plus plan is $3.99 a month and the Pro plan is $4.99 a month. The non-free plans are billed annually.<\/p>\n

Once thought dead, Buxfer is now one of the only apps that lets you import all of your transactions from a spreadsheet seamlessly. Get updates for bills that are upcoming and alerts when you go over your pre-set budget so it’s not a surprise. You can also micromanage your budget timeline, whether it’s daily, weekly, monthly or over the course of a whole year. Like many of the other apps, it also has a savings goal function and let’s you “roll over” any discretionary from the previous month into your existing month’s budget.<\/p>\n

Good Budget<\/a><\/h3>\n

Devices: Web based app and up to 5 devices, depending on the plan chosen.<\/p>\n

Cost: Two plans. Free Forever or the $5 a month plan.<\/p>\n

Good Budget has taken the tried-and-true \u201cenvelope\u201d system for budgeting and made it digital. Allocate funds for different categories as needed and update in real time. You also have the ability to sync your budget with another member of your household, so there\u2019s no more guesswork or surprises when a purchase is made, keeping everyone \u201con the same page\u201d.<\/p>\n

Saving Made Simple<\/h3>\n

Cost: FREE<\/p>\n

If you want a really, really simple mobile app that doesn\u2019t require you putting in really personal or banking information, then Saving Made Simple is the app for your Android. Enter categories and numeric values as needed, set goals, and the app will do the rest through easy to understand charts and graphs. No fuss with this one.<\/p>\n

Wallet <\/h3>\n

Devices: Web based, Android mobile app, iOS mobile app coming soon<\/p>\n

Cost: 4 plans – Free, Individual, Family & Business<\/p>\n

Based out of Prague, Wallet works for the individual, the family or the business. It boasts account sharing features, cloud syncing for backup & storage and the expected standard budgeting features (goal setting, income tracking, etc) but it has a business feature that will help businesses with expense reporting!<\/p>\n
