So how do you handle the financial pressures around the holidays? And what most people forget is the extra spending that comes with the holiday season, which is more than just gifts. That\u2019s why we created a checklist to help you limit your holiday spending as the season quickly approaches.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Budget based on YOU, not others<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When it comes to budgeting for the holidays, you need to make sure you\u2019re only spending within your budget, not others. Everyone has different financial priorities and financial pressures often catch up with us around the holiday season, especially when it comes to gifts. Creating debt and putting you back financially over the holiday season will only catch up with you in the <a href=\"https:\/\/goday.ca\/blog\/the-financial-holiday-hangover\/\">New Year<\/a> and may affect future financial plans.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Holiday budgeting <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Like you do when it comes to spending on anything else, the holidays should be no different in terms of setting financial limits. Know how much you can afford to spend this holiday season, by laying it all out there. Take a hard look at your budget, taking bills into effect of course, and lay out your gift ideas and other holiday items and the costs to see what they\u2019re going to add up to. This will also show you how much wiggle room you will need in both your regular and holiday budgets. From here you will be able to set spending limits and be financially prepared for the holidays.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Retail deals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Start your shopping and holiday prep early (we know retailers have), so take advantage and time manage with all the deals and discounts retailers have throughout the holidays. Not to mention that the earlier and more spread out you get all your holiday prep done, the easier on your wallet the holidays will be. But make sure you\u2019re not falling into the <a href=\"https:\/\/goday.ca\/blog\/four-tricks-retailers-use-to-make-you-spend-money\/\">retailers marketing tricks<\/a>.
