Black Friday has been known to be a kick-off to the holiday shopping season. It has also grown into more than just a U.S. Thanksgiving holiday; Canadian retailers have joined in on bringing the “biggest deals” to shoppers as well. And what is Cyber Monday? Coinciding with Black Friday, Cyber Monday sticks to online exclusive deals, compared to Black Friday deals can be seen both in stores and online.

So who has the better deals, Black Friday or Cyber Monday? The answer is both depending on what you’re looking for and your shopping preferences. Cyber Monday is still fairly new to the retail market, so it is unsure what retailers will do, but you are guaranteed to see a variety in the sales that are on. Regardless of what day you prefer to shop, it does make sense to get a jump on your holiday shopping while the deals are available. We give you the tips and tricks on how to get the best deal and save money this Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Create a List:
Lists are perfect for the holidays and can help you with making sure you are not overspending and you’re getting the perfect gift for the right person.  Once you know what you want to buy, doing your research on where this item is sold and finding the best deal becomes easier. Having a list will help you not only be a more efficient shopper this holiday season; it will also help you stay on budget.

Budget:
We are always talking about having a budget in place and the holidays are no exception. Starting off with how much you are looking to spend this holiday season is a great way to make sure you are keeping your spending on track. Just because something is a really good deal does not mean you need to purchase it. Overspending is very common around the holidays, and feeling festive can get you off track. This is where creating your list comes in handy, as purchasing items just because of a sale is one way people tend to overspend.

Research:
As previously mentioned doing your research is the best way to make sure you are getting the best bang for your buck this holiday season. Most retailers will have sales on all weekend for Black Friday, but make sure you are watching their ads and even their social media as they may release details about how certain products may be going on special for Cyber Monday. By following your favourite retailers, this also gives you the benefit of seeing any online deals that may be different from their traditional ads. Many retailers will also use social media to announce exclusive specials or timed events that can also help you save more.
